The summer is slowly on its way out in Germany. Had not as much downtime as I would have liked, but that is how it often is, when working as a freelancer ;)

Website Migration
Had a big website migration this month and summarized some of the key steps. Always fun to do all the detailed preparation, testdrives and than just execute in sequence. The client was more than happy and the new server is a beast, with some nice performance upgrades. Managed hosting does not have to be expensive to be awesome :)
Focus
Accessibility features are a big part of some of the projects I am currently working on. Finishing an article about focus trapping, as not every modal plays nice with keyboard and accessibility requirements.
“A focus trap is a web accessibility technique that keeps keyboard navigation confined to a specific element or modal, preventing users from accidentally tabbing outside of it.
When implemented, pressing Tab cycles through focusable elements within the trapped area, and when reaching the last element, focus wraps back to the first element. This is essential for modals, dropdowns, and overlays to ensure keyboard users don’t lose context or get stuck navigating behind the modal.
For example, when a modal opens, focus should move to the modal and stay contained within it until the user closes the modal, at which point focus returns to the element that triggered it.” – now you know.
